I've written about Mrs Tea at Johnny's and her mandolin a couple of times recently. Well, she's also got a guitar at the moment, on loan from her dad.
Now I've never really had much of a thought about playing one (apart from a brief flirtation with a bass about 40 years ago) but this is a very attractive semi-acoustic model and it piqued my interest. I thought I'd give it a go.
So I'm now starting to go through the Absolute Beginners guitar book and getting frustrated that I can't put my fingers in the right place two minutes after I did it properly. The idea of moving from one chord to another inside 30 seconds seems remote. The money's on me not sticking with it but time will tell.
The legendary David Bowie certainly wasn't an absolute beginner by the time he recorded the theme song to the film Absolute Beginners. The film was poorly received and flopped, the single reached number two in 1986. I like it.
