Track of the week - 8 August 2015
The football season started this week. In years gone by that would have meant me heading off to wherever Swindon were playing or running round* a field myself somewhere. Now it's fantasy football that's at the forefront of thoughts.
As well as running a league myself I take part in a couple of others. If any of my work friends are wondering why my team is called Sparta FC, here's the answer.
From the Fall's 2003 album The Real New Fall LP (Formerly Country on the Click) (which is so good it should be a compulsory subject taught in schools) it has been used on the BBC's Saturday afternoon football results service. I don't know if it still is, I tend to listen to the radio.
But if you recognise it, that's where you'll know it from.
It's a bit of an odd choice for the Beeb as the lyrics make clear it's about an extremely violent hooligan element of the mythical Sparta FC.
Expect to see the group's other great football song, Kicker Conspiracy, on here at some point.
*My teammates would say standing around.
