Track of the Week - 23 August 2015
On a similar theme to last week we went out for the afternoon on a rare sunny day this summer.
After a trip to Buscot Park (nice house, lovely gardens) we headed for home and found ourselves travelling through the village of Eaton Hastings. As soon as I saw the sign I couldn't help myself from singing the village name to the tune of the chorus of this Jam classic.
Released in 1979 The Eton Rifles was the band's beakthrough hit. Peaking at number three it was their first to reach the top ten and finds a 21-year old Paul Weller in real angry young man, class hatred mode.
I don't want to get all political on you but some of the themes in this song are still valid. "What chance have [we] got against a tie and crest?"
