Adam and the Ants: Never Trust a Man (With Egg On His Face)

Track of the Week - 18 October 2015

Not literal egg you understand. 'You have egg on your face' (or sometimes chin) used to be a euphemism for a man having his trouser fly undone but does seem to have fallen out of fashion.

Because I did discover that I was in a broken fly situation at work this week. I managed to cover my modesty under my desk until lunchtime when I could go home and change.

All of which means that I get to bring you this track from Adam and the Ants' 1979 debut album Dirk Wears White Sox.  It is a sparse post-punk sound giving no clues as to what would follow in Adam's Red Indian/Dandy Highwayman periods.

This particular track is an everyday tale of a woman who shoots her husband after aliens tell her to because his flies are open so he must have been up to no good.
