(And Track of the Week - 20 November 2016)
I have a sweet tooth (well, several to be honest) and will occasionally get stuck in to a packet of Love Hearts. You're probably aware of the fruit-flavoured confectionary with some sort of short message written on one side.
It struck me that several of these messages are also song titles which gave me the idea for this series to run alongside the Track of the Week feature as and when I think about it.
Blue Eyes Love Heart on my old desk |
Where better to start than with one of my all-time favourite bands of all-time, The Wedding Present.
Blue Eyes was the first release from their 1992 Hit Parade series where they released a limited edition single every month throughout the year. All the songs made the top 30 equalling Elvis Presley's record of most top 30 hits in a year*. This one reached number 26, all the other 11 charted higher which comes as a bit of a surprise because this is one of my favourites. What do I know?
* That record has probably gone now that music isn't real and lives on phones and on websites and that and you only need to listen to things and not buy them physically.
