Track of the Week - 17 November 2019
I was supposed to be at Cheltenham racecourse for the Friday meeting this week but the heavy rain put paid to that. The meeting was abandoned due to the course being waterlogged.
We compensated by going to the pub for the afternoon and playing cards. (A peculiar take on three card brag known among us as 'fishy'.)
So my card song for the week is Jack of Diamonds. The Wikipedia page tells me it's a traditional folk song with possibly German roots and had been recorded at least a dozen times before World War II.
I'll go for a slightly more recent one. King of Skiffle Lonnie Donegan's excellent 1957 single which reached number 14 in the UK charts.
