Track of the Week - 2 August 2020
For no better reason than it's been a complete earworm since Thursday. I borrowed Mrs Tea at Johnny's' car to go for a lunch out and this came on the radio. (No CD players in these new-fangled modern cars, let alone cassette decks!)
I've been stuck with it since. Especially the bit that goes:
"something more sub-sub-sub-substantial
A can of beans or black-eyed peas, some Nescafe and ice
A candy bar, a falling star, or a reading from Doctor Seuss"
I should be glad it's more than a decent tune I suppose. There are a few R.E.M. albums in my collection, including 1992's excellent Automatic for the People where this song can be found.
The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite (hate that spelling!) was a 1993 single that peaked at 17 in the UK.
