It ended up being two fillings as a different tooth was damaged in the process. At least that one didn't need an injection. The main filling was, and I quote, "huge". The whole side of the tooth was missing apparently.
I don't know if they still use novocaine for dental injections and I don't want to find out. If they don't then I couldn't use this magnificent track by American indie rockers Eels.
Novocaine for the Soul was the lead single from the band's excellent 1996 album Beautiful Freak. The single made the UK top ten, the album reached number five.
It' a great tune and surely has one of pop's best opening lines.
