Neil Young:: The Needle and the Damage Done

Track of the Week - 13 December 2020

Because of the Covid-19 pressure on the NHS and the fact that I am now of a certain vintage I was recently offered a flu vaccination for the first time. As I like free stuff and being healthy, I accepted.

I went for the jab yesterday. I'm not a fan of needles so I wasn't looking when the nurse said I might feel a scratch. I was wondering whether I'd felt anything when she said "that's it, all done." Really? You sure you didn't miss? She didn't miss.

So, no damage done. The opposite of Canadian-American singer-songwriter Neil Young's song about heroin addiction, The Needle and the Damage Done is from Young's 1972 album Harvest

The song is from a solo live performance in January 1971. Something nice and cheery for you on a Sunday!
