Track of the Week - 2 January 2021
I'm not a New Year person. Has anything really changed apart from some writing on a calendar? If you want to make resolutions why wait until an arbitrary day of the year? Just change. What's new?
So my 'new' song is The Fall's Is This New. (Never noticed the lack of question mark before.) It's from their superb 2008 album Imperial Wax Solvent (Mrs Tea at Johnny's bought me the three-disc reissue for Christmas - which was nice.)
The song itself has a late-60s feel to it. Mark E Smith's lyric feels like a pitch for a tv programme. A pursuit and search for a separating J (Jeffrey?) Archer, 'the department of no name' and 'time blenders'. I'd watch it!
