This week I have been helping an elderly lady of my acquaintance with her garden. I do a bit of watering for her from time to time but this week I was tasked with deadheading a rose bush. (I don't know what sort it is, I'm not Alan Titchmarsh.)
It's a fairly recent addition and after a slow start put on an impressive display. The trouble was it's been so hot that the remaining blooms were like dried paper and fell off if I brushed them thus increasing my workload. Heigh ho.
As they did a good job of brightening up a garden wall I felt that Thank You For The Roses by Cincinnati's Ass Ponys was the ideal choice. It's from their 1990 album Mr Superlove which the Dayton Daily News called "a regional classic." No need for the 'regional as far as I'm concerned.
