I was supposed to be going to see New Order at Cardiff Bay with my friend Colin and his sons this week. I say supposed to be - the gig was cancelled on the day when the health and safety people ruled that the high winds* were putting workers on the site at risk.
The news came as quite a surprise. You could say we were shellshocked.
Which is kind of appropriate when you consider that New Order's eleventh single, released in March 1986, was called Shellshock. A welcome coincidence for someone trying to write a post relating a song to something that happens in his life every week.
Shellshock reached number 28 and was also on the Pretty in Pink film soundtrack apparently. Never seen it myself. Maybe not quite out of the band's top echelon but it has a cracking chorus.
Were the winds 60 Miles an Hour I wonder?
