A couple of weeks ago I had an eye test at the opticians. The good news - my prescription hadn't changed enough to require me buying new glasses. The less good - I'm told I'm starting to develop cataracts. One of those things that says old age is tapping you on the shoulder I suppose.
To stop cataracts (and macular degeneration) developing quicker I need to protect my eyes from bright sunlight so I need to wear sunglasses a bit more than I have been. The sunny days at the start of this week has seen me start to put this into practice.
So while I won't be hiding behind them as such I can definitely bring this track out to play. I Like to Hide Behind My Glasses is from eclectic American rockers Fishbone's rather good 1988 album Truth and Soul.
With the glasses in question seemingly giving the singer some sort of superpower, this song feels like a missing Disney animation classic to me. The long lost brother to Dumbo's Pink Elephants on Parade perhaps.
I love it.
