Something odd happened to me in the supermarket last week. The lady at the checkout got up and left after scanning four items and didn't come back.
It wasn't my fault. Without going into details, she'd seemed upset about a family situation as I arrived with my shopping and after those four items (bottles go through first if you were wondering) she asked if she could go and have a word with a colleague. I said 'of course'. I'm nice like that.
She walked down to the self-service section and then vanished. Not in a magical way, I just lost her from view. I waited for her to come back, and waited, and waited.
She didn't come back. After five minutes or so I had to flag down another member of the supermarket team and told her of the situation. Another couple of minutes and someone else arrived to finish scanning my shopping.
So where does that leave me song-wise? Well, as she effectively vanished I'm picking New Order's Vanishing Point.
From their excellent 1989 album Technique the acid-house and dance-rock feel reflects the time and the fact it was partly recorded in Ibiza.
