Track of the Week - 17 May 2015
This weekend I was on holiday up north* with Mrs Tea at Johnny's. To get to our destination we needed to use the M5**, so this track from the 1994 album Middle Class Revolt is the selection.
If you can understand what Mark E. Smith is saying this song may be about city-dwellers and their fascination with the countryside and a return to a rural past that probably never existed. (There's also a line in the 1982 song Just Step S'Ways about celebrities 'eat[ing] the past nowadays, but who wants to be in a Hovis advert anyway?' so it may be part of a theme through Smith's work.)
Or you could listen and enjoy as it's rather good.
* Well, Derbyshire's north to us.
** Not my favourite motorway. That's the M32
