The Stone Roses: Fools Gold

Track of the Week - 21 June 2015

This week I went to the local museum with Mrs Tea at Johnny's to see an exhibition that she helped put together. (She's a volunteer there.)

The exhibition was called 'Shaped By Nature: Ceramics and Geology' and featured rocks and fossils alongside modern ceramics that were inspired by the natural forms.

I found the fossils and rocks more interesting than the 'pots' and thought that I'd much rather have the ammonites, quartz, amethyst and iron pyrite on display at home much more than the ceramics. Iron pyrite is also known as Fool's Gold and that brings me to this Stone Roses track. (Tenuous link, I know.)

Some people think the Stone Roses are a 'you had to be there' sort of band. I partly agree. I wasn't there but still like bits and pieces of their stuff and this 1989 single is undoubtedly one of their best.
