Track of the Week - 27 December 2015
Well, we're still in the season so I think I can get away with this.
As the workload slowed down last week in the run up to Christmas so the festive music in the office turned up. It was a mix of the usual Slade, Wizzard, Chris Rea with some newer more annoying re-workings of some of the Christmas classics.
With the exception of the Pogues there's not a lot of fun in some of the recent festive tunes. What the world needs is more Frank Sidebottom.
Frank was a big fan of the Christmas tune and will keep me going for a few years if I'm still doing this. Christmas is Really Fantastic is from 1986 and was re-issued in 2010 in a bid to get Frank into the charts after the death of the man behind the papier-mache mask, Chris Sievey. It didn't work.
I hope you had a fantastic one.
NB: The song is also the basis for Football is Really Fantastic by Little Frank And The Demon Axx Warriors From Oblivion. I shall try and squeeze that in at some point as Frank arguing with his ventriloquist puppet over the track is comedy gold.
