Track of the Week - 20 March 2016
I made my annual visit to Cheltenham Festival this week so saw plenty of horses. There weren't too many white ones about, that's rare, although Smad Place was expected to run a big race in the Gold Cup on Friday*.
That put me in mind of this old TV theme from my youth. In those long summers of no school The White Horses would be one of those morning TV fillers. The theme tune was probably the cue to go to the park and play football. They were simpler times.
This song was a top ten hit in 1968 for Jackie Lee (Jacky). I'm not that old. This series and a black and white Robinson Crusoe seemed to alternate through the summers of my entire childhood. It's a sweet, innocent tune of innocent days past and is none the worse for that.
*Smad didn't run a big race, probably wanted softer ground
