Track of the Week - 27 March 2016
Come on, it's been nearly four months since the last Fall track. I was due one!
Easter bank holiday weekend. If you're not getting away from it all (apart from the traffic queues on the way to 'away' of course) then it's probably tidying the house and/or garden that's occupying some of your time.
With Friday's weather the pick of the four days it was the garden - and a couple of trips to the tip as well (or Household Waste Recycling Centre if you prefer) - that got my attention.
So that's an excuse for me to use this track from the Fall's magnificent 1983 album Perverted By Language. In a career of enigmatic and confusing writing it's one of the most enigmatic from the pen of Mark E Smith. The Annotated Fall website does its best to explain.
Garden is highly regarded by the Fall cognoscenti (yes, there is a Fall cognoscenti - I'm not in it) and reached the semi-finals of the Fall Cup (a knockout tournament of all Fall recordings on the Fall online forum) in 2009 and 2015 and was beaten in the final of the competition in 2007.
As if you care.
