Track of the Week - 1 May 2016
As the Rolling Stones said, ' what a drag it is getting old'. To go with the other bits of me that don't work properly any more (eyes, left elbow, right shoulder, feet etc.) I now need a denture.
I was in the dentist this week for what they call an impression so they can get the fitting right. If you don't know what this is like then get a gumshield, fill it with wax and then get someone to press it into your mouth really hard.
So this week we can have Those First Impressions by The Associates, a 1984 single by the band that was also on their rather good album of the following year, Perhaps.
Best known for their 1982 hit single Party Fears Two, it's a shame that The Associates have been somewhat forgotten. Singer Billy Mackenzie had a distinctive style that fits their orchestral pop perfectly. Here's a reminder of what they could do.
