Track of the Week - 21 May 2017
I went to London for a conference this week. Alright, the track choice isn't very thoughtful, I admit it.
I'll fight my corner by saying that the place I went was by the river so while I didn't 'live by the river' as in the song I was at least walking by it and looking out of the window at it.
London Calling (from the 1979 album of the same name) was the highest-placing single for The Clash at the time (it reached number 11) and stayed that way for ten years.
Police brutality, nuclear accidents and the band's own struggles feature among the lyrics. I'm not much of a Clash fan but you can't help but appreciate this.
