Dinosaur Jr: Feel the Pain

Track of the Week - 31 December 2017

I hurt my left-hand ring finger on Boxing Day. I can't remember the last time I was in so much pain. I trapped it in the seat forward/backward mechanism of my car.

No, I don't know how I managed to do that either. (It was dark and and wet and I was parked close to a wall.) It was lucky Mrs Tea at Johnny's was there to move the seat for me otherwise I might still be there now.

I don't quite know what I did to the finger but it has been all sorts of colours since. Yesterday it was mostly purple - as I write I'd say yellow was the standout colour. It also was swollen for a couple of days, to the point where I was worried I'd have to have my wedding ring cut off.

Thankfully it didn't get that bad but it's still sore so things like gripping stuff, holding cutlery and using the indicator lever in the car is still painful. Poor me.

American indie rock band Dinosaur Jr. released Feel the Pain in 1994. It got to number 25 in the UK. It has that 'loud, quiet, loud' grunge sound, that was so popular at the time and still sounds ace today.

They're probably a band I should get to know better. I know this and a couple of other great singles but not a lot else.
