Track of the Week - 17 December 2017
These posts usually take the shape of me saying what I was doing and then finding a recording to fit. I'm going to do things the other way round this week.
Did you know that Siouxsie and the Banshees' 1978 debut single and top ten hit Hong Kong Garden was named after a Chinese takeaway in Chislehurst? If you did, well done. If you didn't, you do now.
I say this because we had our work neighbourhood* Christmas meal out this week at a Chinese restaurant (not in Chislehurst). The food was good but far too plentiful.
Back to the song then - it's far more complex than many of the punk/post-punk stuff that was about at the time, the guitar work particularly impressive to these ears.
* awful business word describing teams that sit and work closely together.
