Editors: Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors

I've been to the hospital a few times this week to visit an older gentleman of my acquaintance*.

You don't see many people smoking outside these days but there was still one man, as pale as paper, tubes in nose, bandage on head, stood by the revolving doors in his hospital-issue pyjamas having a fag.

In this week's selection, Editors say that the 'saddest thing I'd ever seen were smokers outside the hospital doors'. To which I'd say that they probably didn't go into the hospital.

Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors was a top ten hit in 2007. It's not really my thing but judge for yourself if you don't already know it. Nearly two million views for this on YouTube (at time of writing) while only just over 5,000 for the 19-minute live version of the Fall's Autochip 2014-2016. There's no justice.
