Track of the Week - 20 January 2019
In addition to my usual volunteering with the local Mind this week I had a day helping with one of the courses they put on.
I'm not trained to deliver the course so my role was handing things out, sticking things to walls, putting names on certificates and suchlike but they're all things that helped make the course run smoother for the attendees.
The course was for Youth Mental Health First Aid and very interesting. Did you know suicide is the second most common cause of death for those aged 5-19? That's an awful statistic.
So if you work with children or run or help out with a youth group of any kind it might be something to consider so you can support the group members better if they are going through any difficulties.
Northern synth-pop duo Soft Cell's Youth is from their excellent 1981 album Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. It's more downbeat than most of their work you'll hear on the radio but I love it and Marc Almond's voice is amazing on this.
