Young Knives: Sister Frideswide

Track of the Week - 27 January 2019

I went to Oxford this week with Mrs Tea at Johnny's as she wanted to visit the Bate Collection of Musical Instruments. (Her next university project is to work on an instrument called a serpent so she wanted to see what a complete one should look like close up.)

As parking in Oxford is a nightmare we did the Park and Ride thing. One of the stops on the way into Oxford centre was St. Frideswide's Church which means I can use this track by Young Knives.

Young Knives moved from Leicestershire to base themselves in Oxford so a song about 7th/8th century princess and abess Saint Frithuswith (also known as Frideswide), the Patron Saint of Oxford, is less random than you might think.

It's one of the high points from their rather good 2011 album Ornaments from the Silver Arcade in case you're interested.
