Track of the Week - 15 December 2019
Had a haircut. On General Election day. I won't get into politics but some of you might feel that the first part of this title is appropriate following the result. (I can't imagine anybody saying that my hair is 'perfect', I'll settle for 'as good as possible under the circumstances'.)
The World Was a Mess But His Hair Was Perfect was a 2007 single for indie-pop/post punk band The Rakes. After four singles in the lower reaches of the top 40 this failed to trouble the charts. A couple of swears (edited out of this video) and a marijuana reference probably proved too much for mainstream radio.
The London-based outfit made three great albums over a six-year period before giving up the ghost.
This is from the second of those albums, Ten New Messages, which is well worth 40 minutes of your time.
