Ramones: Chain Saw

Track of the Week - 19 January 2020

We have a large silver birch tree in the garden at Tea at Johnny's Towers (get us!) and every couple of years have to get a tree surgeon company in to cut it back a bit.

I say tree surgeon, they could also be described as blokes with chainsaws. (I play their skills down for comic effect here. They do a good job and the tree soon recovers from the shock.)

Chain Saw was from Ramones first, self-titled, album in 1976. Referencing the horror film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre it's 'da brudders' in their simple, loud, verse, chorus, verse, get it over with in two minutes style that influenced people on both sides of the Atlantic to pick up guitars and learn three chords (and no more).

After The Beatles they're probably the most influential group in the history of popular music. Whether you like it or not.
