Track of the Week - 12 January 2020
After my previous couple of posts about not being bothered with the New Year and the end of the decade, the calendar got its own back on me this week.
Well, that isn't strictly true I suppose. It was my mistake.
I thought I was off to Gloucester to see The Wedding Present with some friends on Thursday (the 9th). I was convinced. Written up on the calendar and everything.
So when my good friend Stu said are you still good for Saturday (the 11th) I was a tad annoyed with myself as that was booked in for a trip away with Mrs Tea at Johnny's. No Weddoes for me.
Calendar by The Fall was released as an extra track with the Masquerade single in early 1998. You may be surprised to hear that it was co-written with Badly Drawn Boy. (They met when Mark E Smith mistook BDB for a taxi and then left a set of dentures in the car. True story.)
I prefer the John Peel session version which saw the light of day a few weeks later so that's the one you're getting.
