Track of the Week - 28 June 2020
This week we took a trip out to the Forest of Dean to see Mrs. Tea at Johnny's' mum and stepdad. They are retired gardeners and have spent much of the last couple of years working on their own garden.
It's lovely and a great space to spend a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon. I'm fairly ignorant of the whole gardening thing but I know they have some roses. Some of them are probably wild too.
Where the Wild Roses Grow is a 1995 single featuring Australian music legends Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue which reached number 11 in the UK. Cave had wanted to write a song for Kylie for a while and when he had this piece about a murderer and his victim he sent to her to see what she thought. She quickly agreed to do it.
It's from Cave's 1996 album Murder Ballads which is fantastic but understandably very dark at times. Well worth a listen as long as you're not having a down day. (Entertainment Weekly called it "not for the squeamish.")
