Track of the Week - 11 July 2021
This one works on a couple of levels so stay with me...
After my trip to London last week I developed some sort of mild respiratory malaise. Obviously in these Covid times it's good to be careful and my lifestyle at the moment makes it easy to keep away from other people.
Feeling better after a few days, and wanting to get on with life and seeing people, it made sense to take a lateral flow test. It's not the nicest procedure in the world but plenty are going through much worse and it's a small price to pay to keep people safe. It was negative, hurrah!
That was one test - there will be another one at 8pm this evening when England face Italy in the final of Euro 2020. The players will be tested to the full and the watching public will probably go through it too.
Testing Time is a super poppy track from the marvellous Edwyn Collins' 1989 debut album Hope and Despair (which could itself be a message ahead of tonight - hopefully not.)
As well as the title track, other tracks on that album that could be appropriate for the game are:
You're Better Than You Know
If Ever You're Ready
The Beginning of the End
The Measure of a Man
Let Me Put My Arms Around You
Ghost of a Chance
Which one will be most appropriate I wonder...?
