Bauhaus: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes

Track of the Week - 8 August 2021

This week I had to take an elderly lady of my acquaintance to hospital for an x-ray. It was a fairly efficient process but waiting around in hospitals can very rarely be described as fun. Heigh ho, needs must and all that.

For an x-ray song how about The Man with the X-Ray Eyes by Bauhaus? I was a big Bauhaus fan back in the early eighties. I saw them two or three times (missed a last train home from London after one of their gigs and had to hang around on Paddington station all night with my friend Michael - but that's another story for another day) and had a different Bauhaus t-shirt for every day of the week.

But like a lot of goth stuff I own they haven't had much of an airing since that time. To start to put that right here's a track from their second album, 1981's Mask. (There's a much slower live version on Press the Eject and Give Me the Tape which I can always dig out if there are more x-rays in my life.)

This is great. Might have to dig out the old records after all.
