Track of the Week - 1 May 2022
When I've been short of things to write over the seven-plus years of doing this I've used weather, gardening, and more recently, football-inspired songs to fill the gaps. We're with football again this week.
Swindon Town have had a couple of must-win games this week to keep their play-off hopes alive. The first, against then league-leaders Forest Green Rovers saw the Town hang on to a lead for more than half an hour with ten men. The second, against Barrow, saw the Reds surrender the lead with eight minutes left only to find a winner six minutes later.
It's been pretty tense at times. And it's all going down to a game at Walsall next week. "And the tension builds", as this week's choice goes.
Tension by post-punk/goth/industrial rock and more besides Killing Joke was the b-side of the 1981 single Follow The Leaders and also features on the album What's THIS For...! from the same year.
40+ years on this still chugs along with a fair bit of menace about it. Superb track.
