Something different this week as I went to a creative writing group for the first time. I didn't know what to expect but it wasn't what I expected!
We were set the assignment of writing about trust. I found that difficult in the 20 minutes we had for the task. It's something we tend to view in a negative light these days. Tricky blighters, emotions.
So I thought I'd find a trust song this week and the first I thought of was Trust in Me, the closing track on The Fall's excellent 2005 album Fall Heads Roll.
One of the rare songs in the group's catalogue not to feature Mark E. Smith on vocals there are four different voices* in this tune about a dentist who will come round your house and do an x-ray for free. They don't sound terribly trustworthy to me.
* I met one of them a few months ago at a Wedding Present gig. Simon 'Ding' Archer was playing bass for support band L//nes that night. I should have asked him about it.
