I realise some big stuff has happened this week, two monarchs, two prime ministers, two Chelsea managers (alright, that last one happens fairly often - and the middle one is getting more regular) but this feature has almost entirely been about my week since it started so I'm going to stick with that.
(I should have called it 'Track of My Week' really but after seven and a half years and 400 posts it doesn't seem the right time to change.)
My friend Stu has launched a Kickstarter campaign for a children's book he's written and is getting illustrated*. If you don't know about Kickstarter it's a crowdfunding platform. A product or service is offered but only becomes reality if enough people pledge the required amount between them.
So I've seen the word pledge a few times this week. Will you pledge, thanks for your pledge, etc...
... which means Pledge!, from the Fall's excellent in places 2015 album Sub-Lingual Tablet, fits the bill.
It's a song that will divide opinion. Some will say it's why they love The Fall, others will say this is why they want nothing to do with the group. Some Fall fans won't like it. Me, I'm a big fan.
The rhythm section goes about its business while the keyboard is up too loud in places but I mostly love it for Mark E Smith's voice which goes through just about every affectation in his repertoire.
* If you want to find out more, go nuts.
