I was at the Royal Festival Hall this week at the Southbank Centre in that London with my friend Ben to see Regina Spektor in concert. (Big thanks to Ben for sorting the driving, parking and general travel logistics. Nothing he could do about the Tube not running the way we needed it to at the time we needed it to.)
The Russian-born American singer-songwriter's Home, Before and After was one of Ben's choices in an album-listening group we have with another friend and while none of us would say it's what we'd usually listen to we were all very taken by it.
As well as being an excellent singer/keyboard player she seems a funny, caring and humble person too. Despite struggling with a bad back she played a great set and I was delighted that she featured this track, my favourite from that 2022 album mentioned above.
(If you haven't got the best part of nine minutes to listen to it try That Time from 2006's Begin To Hope album which is much more what I'd usually listen to.)
