Long story short - one of the museums in our town has been shut for a while and is now in the process of moving locations. In the interim a very (very) small display is available to view. There's also been a series of talks about the items and Mrs Tea at Johnny's and I went along to one this week.
The items on show are a mix of crafted and natural, with the display and talk focusing on the relationship between them. One of the geology items on display is ropy lava* (also known as Pāhoehoe) which was lucky as I can use this song by the B-52's this week.
Lava is from their tremendous debut, self-titled album from 1979 and is a great example of what they were up to at the time. I love the vocals from Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson on this one.
* As a man of a certain age I think I'm obliged to say that I didn't think it was ropy at all. I thought it was good.
