A rare gig this week* made rarer by Mrs Tea at Johnny's coming along too. An acoustic set from The Bluetones at Gloucester Guildhall. (Well, just two of them if we're being accurate - singer Mark Morriss and guitarist Adam Devlin.)
I must admit they passed me by in their heyday, they're one of Mrs TaJ's bands, but having heard bits and pieces over our time to together there's plenty to like. Particularly in their 1996 debut album Expecting To Fly (which knocked (What's the Story) Morning Glory? off the top of the album chart fact fans.)
It was a very entertaining and enjoyable evening. As they opened with 1995 single Bluetonic, which is on the Expecting To Fly album and very possibly my favourite of theirs, that seems like the ideal choice for this week.
* You could argue it was a two-gig week as we also went to see renowned harpsichord player Mahan Esfahani perform at a church in the Cotswolds. But is that more of a recital than a gig?
