A 'going to a gig' post two weeks running. That's a rarity! It was actually two days running* with a trip to Bristol's Marble Factory (for the first time) with good friends Ben and Stuart to see the Wedding Present (for the umpteenth time.)
It was the last date of their tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their Watusi album. The tracks they played outside of those seemed to be chosen especially to show off the guitar playing of David Gedge and Rachael Wood. And it was fantastic.
I'll pick a song from Watusi as Catwoman is one of my favourites and was a highlight on the night. Bit of a Velvet Underground feel to it.
And here's the live version if you fancy it.
* Outside of a festival this might have last happened in 1991 but records are sketchy. It definitely happened in July 1986 (Shop Assistants, followed by The Festival of the Tenth Summer) but if we're not counting that because of festivals then we have to go back to March 1986, The Pogues one night, The Housemartins the next.
