Track of the Week - 7 February 2016
I had a trip to the hospital this week for an eye check-up. A mixture of short-sightedness and Pigment Dispersion Syndrome means I'm at risk of glaucoma so the doctors need to keep an eye on me. (Please excuse the pun). My left eye has got a bit worse since my last visit so I'm now on eyedrops to try to halt the deterioration.
So this week's track just had to be eye-related. The choice is Indian-born Brit Karel Fialka and his 1980 single 'The Eyes Have It'.
Now I don't own this record, nor can I have heard it more than a couple of times in the last 35 years. It only got to number 52 so I can't imagine I was over-exposed it to it unless there was a big radio push at the time.
The Top of the Pops performance is underwhelming (he doesn't move much and chooses to wear sunglasses in a song about eyes - the irony!) but somehow this bit of synth-pop has stuck with me. Now it can stick with you.
