Track of the Week - 19 June 2016
I'm back from a weekend in Aylesbury with Mrs Tea at Johnny's. While we were there we noticed that the Bucks Open Studios event was on. We like a bit of art so went to a nearby art shop* where there were quite a few exhibitors.
There was an excellent selection of art there. Paintings, bronze sculptures, ceramics, jewellery, glasswork... this small building seem to wind on for miles with different spaces opening as you walked through.
It wasn't quite endless but as there was lots of art it put me in mind of this track.
A 1992 single by Irish band A House, Endless Art reached number 46. Wikipedia tells me it was the most played song on British radio for a bit but the record label couldn't keep up with demand which is why it didn't get the commercial success it deserved.
It's a list song (I quite like a list song), with singer Dave Couse reeling off a whole host of artists, actors, musicians who are "all dead, yet still alive - in endless time, endless art".
*Obsidian Art at Stoke Mandeville if you're interested. You might have to go sooner rather than later as I'm told that the HS2 project will flatten it and there will be railway sidings there.
