Blur: Country House

Track of the Week - 8 October 2017

It was a double-digit wedding anniversary for me and Mrs Tea at Johnny's this week. We celebrated by staying the night at the country house where we were married.

So we didn't "live in a very big house in the country" like in Blur's Country House but we at least stayed in a big room in a big house* in the country.

That room is miles better than this song. I'm not sure it was any good when it reached number one in 1995 (beating Roll With It by Oasis to the top spot in the so-called Battle of Britpop) and it certainly hasn't aged well.

Unlike me and Mrs Tea at Johnny's.


* It hadn't changed much. Maybe a new or re-upholstered chaise longue but that was all we noticed.
