Track of the Week - 26 November 2017
I hope my love of music has come across in these posts over the last three years but I'm not sure whether I've mentioned my love of sport that much.
Growing up before wall-to-wall sport on tv, it was football in the winter and cricket in the summer. And cricket in the winter if England were playing the Ashes in Australia.
Early sessions of a Test match are generally interesting but with the game in Australia the time difference, being tired and having to get up for work the next morning generally means I need to wait for highlights or read about what went on.
I did have an opportunity to catch some early play on the second day of the first test this week though. I'd been out for a couple of leaving drinks with one of my friendly colleagues (good luck Ellie), Mrs Tea at Johnny's was away for the night and play was starting earlier to make up for the previous day's rain delay.
So I settled in for the first half an hour and... nothing much happened. That's cricket for you! (Then I went to bed and couldn't sleep properly, possibly because I was wondering what was happening.)
While I usually have to explain a bit about which obscure artist I'm featuring, this week I don't suppose I need to do that with David Bowie and Ashes to Ashes. It was a 1980 number one, Steve Strange (of Visage) was in the video, it's from the album Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps).
Thirty-seven years on, it still sounds fresh and interesting.
