Track of the Week - 1 April 2018
Long story short - I needed to sign some documents and get them witnessed this week which was a good excuse to pop by and see some of my old work family for all too short a while.
I don't feature much rap on here but my 'witness' song is this 2001 single by Roots Manuva that criminally only got to number 45.
I've only recently become familiar with Witness (1 Hope) (sometimes known as Witness the Fitness) recently. In the aftermath of Mark E Smith's untimely death in January I have been reading a huge amount about The Fall and their work and have seen it suggested that the bass line of their classic tune Blindness may have been inspired by this. It's also possible that both songs were independently using the Doctor Who theme as their source.
The video shows Manuva going back to his old school for sports day. With hilarious consequences.
