Nat King Cole: On the Street Where You Live

Track of the Week - 8 July 2017

Well, the street where I live to be honest.

I answered the door on Thursday lunchtime to find a man from the BBC. He'd been sent to talk to people who lived on streets with names that were also surnames of the current England football team. World Cup Fever is properly taking hold!

I had my picture taken and answered some questions for a story that appears online. (It's not my best look and the quotes have been manipulated a little - that's journalism!)

On the Street Where You Live was written for the 1956 musical My Fair Lady. Based on the play Pygmalion you may know the film with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison.

American vocalist Nat King Cole's version is from his 1963 album Nat King Cole sings My Fair Lady. It's a gorgeous song.
