Track of the Week - 26 August 2018
This isn't just down to the fact that I've been on a bus this week. I go on a bus most weeks. (Get me.)
There's still a lot to do with sorting out my dad's 'effects' and I was helping my mum with that this week. One thing we were particularly keen to tackle is memorabilia from his dad's life.
My grandfather worked for the East Kent Road Car Company (also known as the East Kent Omnibus Co. at some point) for 40 years, many (if not all) of them as a bus driver. When he died my dad helped clear the house which appears to have involved putting an awful lot of stuff tin my mum and dad's attic.
I was cataloguing and photographing this with my mum so we could contact Margate museum to see if they want any of his certificates, presentation night invites and uniform before this stuff otherwise heads to the dustbin of history.
Omnibus by 1960s/70s Birmingham-based rock band The Move was tucked away on the b-side of 1968 flop single Wild Tiger Woman. The group realised later that Omnibus should have been the a-side. It's not their best but it's perfectly alright and has a particularly good psychedelic guitar run-out.
