Track of the Week: 10 March 2019
Not that kind of joint!*
But a joint-based theme this week. On Monday I had another visit to the sports physio chap who twisted my shoulder** to get some more movement back into my left arm. It was as painful as the first time I went if not more so.
The second joint belongs on my car. It was MOT test time this week and I needed a new 'boot' to protect the near-side constant velocity joint. (I had to look this up as I'm not too sharp on the workings of the driveshaft mechanism of motor vehicles. They could be making this stuff up!)
* You can make up your mind as to whether this mighty fine song is about that sort of joint. From The Fall's excellent 2005 album Fall Heads Roll singer/songwriter Mark E Smith said it was about a quiet place (in New York?) where someone could get something to eat. Contributors on the Annotated Fall site have five possibilities as to what sort of joint might be involved in the lyrics.
** The word 'shoulder' is mentioned in around ten Fall songs so I have options if it doesn't get better any time soon.
