Track of the Week - 14 April 2019
I was in London yesterday with Mrs Tea at Johnny's, and part of the reason for the trip was to visit The Swan at The Globe for afternoon tea.
The food, was certainly good quality (the savoury tray probably my favourite), the pouring of tea through a strainer provided the ceremony (even though it was unnecessary as there was a tea bag in the pot), but it was noisy in there. A combination of a low ceiling and a large hen party had me struggling to hear until I could tune in to the situation properly.
It was so loud in fact I downloaded a decibel meter app (get me!) to see what it was registering.
The reading averaged out at 85 but peaked at 91, kind of power tools volume. Would you have afternoon tea while people used power tools six feet from you? I doubt it.
The Buzzcocks Noise Annoys was the b-side of their brilliant 1978 single Love You More. It's perhaps not their finest work but sums up today's tale nicely.
