The Rakes: Shackleton

Track of the Week - 6 February 2020

Had a birthday this week. And so would legendary Anglo-Irish explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton if he hadn't been dead for nearly 100 years.

But he does allow me to shoehorn in Shackleton by The Rakes. The second Rakes song in a couple of months. (If you want to find out more about them and listen to the other then it was The World Was a Mess But His Hair Was Perfect.)

This is from their third, and sadly final, album - Klang. Released in 2008 it's another great set of indie rock tunes including this gem with singer Alan Donohoe throwing the absolute kitchen sink at it in the vocals department.

"We're all pawns, baby, we're all pawns."
