Track of the Week - 12 April 2020
With the current situation I was always going to use this at some point so three weeks into lockdown with the prospect of plenty more to come seems as good a time as any.
Isolation is from Joy Division's second and final studio album Closer. The song was recorded in March 1980, about two months before singer Ian Curtis took his own life.
Curtis' health was deteriorating at this point and the lyrics which mention 'fear', 'hurt' and 'shame' can now be seen as part of his mental turmoil.
(It's a great song but if you come here for upbeat lyrics and positivity then sorry, it's not your week.)
